Meet Karen!
Owner Karen Clarke was first taught to sew as a young girl by her grandmother, and then received formal
training from the Dayton Art Institute in Dayton, Ohio and the Traphagen School of Design in Grammercy
Park, New
York City. After retiring from a corporate career, she finally realized
her lifelong dream of designing when she opened Fiona’s Childrenswear in the spring of 2010. In the spring of 2011,
she added Fiona’s Children’s Special Occasion to fill a void for outstanding, quality children’s formal
apparel. Inspired by her own beloved grandchildren, Clarke creates and selects each ensemble with love
and affection with the goal to ignite a desire for fun with fashion! “I was inspired by my first baby granddaughter, who debuted
June 2009 in Philadelphia, to open this small company with a team including one seamstress/owner (myself) and one senior helper
(my Mom). My dream is to grow this business for the benefit of my little customers, as well as to benefit
the community by providing employment to area designers and seamstresses, and supporting the neighborhood’s charity
initiatives.
